Welcome to the Z-Machine
This page allows you to play text-adventure games, which were written to run on a Z-machine Interpreter. The Z-Machine interpreter used on this page runs completely in JavaScript, that means your browser is running the text-adventure and you can even continue playing when your Internet connection is not available. You can register first to be able to save games, or you can start playing right away.
If you want to try a game, you could try playing Adventureland by Scott Adams (Play | Info), the first text adventure to be commercially published.
Or you could try Curses by Graham Nelson (Play | Info), one of the first modern text adventures where you have to uncover an old curse placed on your family.
Another popular game you could try is Spider And Web by Andrew Plotkin (Play | Info), an award-winning espionge story, with many twists. But beware, it is difficult and can be frustrating at times.
You can also play using Jabber! Just send a message to z-machine@appspot.com. Your savegames from the webpage will work via jabber and vice versa.
The interpreter is open source.
Please note: This web page still is in the testing stage. We will try to keep everything going at all times, but savegames might be lost or you might be required to register again at a later Date. But we will send you an email if there are breaking changes in the development.
